Make the most of
VidMagnet Otter.
A practical guide to installing, activating, collecting, and downloading with the Windows app.
01 / PREPARE
Before you start
VidMagnet Otter is currently available for Windows. Download the installer from our Download page and install it on your own computer. Keep the installer from the official download page for future reinstalls.
02 / USE THE APP
Quick start
- 01
Open Collection
Paste a supported public profile or individual post link into Content source. The app supports links from Douyin, Xiaohongshu, Kuaishou, X, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, subject to each platform’s availability.
- 02
Fetch and review
Choose a Maximum if needed, then select Fetch posts. Review the returned titles and availability. Some posts may be preview-only or require a legitimate platform sign-in.
- 03
Choose what to save
Select individual downloadable posts or use Select all downloadable. Choose a quality setting, then select Download selected.
- 04
Follow progress
Open Downloads to see queued, active, completed, or failed tasks. Use Open downloads folder to find saved files. Keep the app open until downloads finish; closing it stops unfinished tasks.
03 / LICENSE
Activate your copy
In the app, open About, find License, paste the complete activation code you received, and select Activate. Collection and downloads require an active license. Keep your code private and retain your purchase confirmation for support.
If activation fails, check that the full code was copied without extra spaces and that your computer has an internet connection. If it still fails, contact support with the error message and purchase reference, but do not email your full code unless support specifically requests it through a trusted channel.
04 / ACCESS
When a platform asks you to sign in
Some platforms limit what visitors can preview or download. If the app offers Sign in to [platform] to continue, complete the sign-in in the platform window and try fetching again. For other supported platforms, the app may offer Other-platform cookies to read an existing browser session on this device.
Only sign in to your own account through the platform’s normal flow. Never share your password, exported cookies, or one-time codes with support. Signing in does not guarantee that every post is available.
05 / FIXES
Troubleshooting
No posts appear, or only the first page loads
Check the link, network connection, and whether the posts are public. A platform may limit guest access or change its pages. If the app offers a sign-in option, use your own account and fetch again. Private, removed, region-limited, or restricted posts may remain unavailable.
A post is marked “Preview only”
The app has metadata but no usable media address. Try an authorized sign-in if offered. If the platform still does not make the media available, VidMagnet Otter cannot download it.
A download fails or quality is lower than expected
Check free disk space and network stability, then retry the item. Source availability and quality depend on the platform. For separate high-quality audio and video streams, FFmpeg may be needed; without it, the app can use a compatible single-file format.
The installer does not open
Check that the download completed and that you are using a Windows computer. Download a fresh copy from our Download page. If the problem continues, contact support with the exact message shown by Windows.
06 / PLEASE READ
Important notes
- Save only content you own or have permission to access and keep. Follow copyright law, creator permissions, and each platform’s terms.
- The app does not bypass private accounts, paywalls, DRM, CAPTCHAs, or other access controls.
- Platform sites and access rules change. Supported links, available posts, and obtainable quality can vary over time and by region.
- Downloads and task data are handled on your device. Platform sign-in may still contact that platform, and activation requires a license check.
- Back up any files you want to keep. Do not rely on a temporary download queue as your only copy.
